DAVOS, Switzerland (Reuters) – Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang met with global finance and business leaders, including Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman and JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, during a private lunch at Davos on Tuesday.
The lunch, hosted by World Economic Forum (WEF) founder Klaus Schwab, was attended by several other CEOs, including BlackRock’s Larry Fink, Standard Chartered’s Bill Winters, and Visa’s Ryan McIverney.
Chinese government officials were also present at the event, as U.S. financial firms aimed to maintain relations with China despite slowing growth. An executive noted, “All the indicators are positive, but the market is waiting to see how much conviction there is and how much follows through.”
The executive highlighted Chinese goals to stabilize the property market and stimulate domestic demand. Policymakers are working to rejuvenate the economy amidst concerns regarding potential U.S. tariff hikes following President Trump’s inauguration.
Ding encouraged foreign investment in China, expressing a willingness to address challenges faced by both domestic and foreign businesses. He is the second-highest-ranking Chinese official to engage with global leaders at Davos since President Xi Jinping attended in 2017.
