Chainlink LINK +3.63% on Base
Data Streams and Chainlink VRF are now live on Base, the Layer 2 blockchain incubated by Coinbase. With these latest integrations, the entire Chainlink product suite is now available for developers on Base.
Features of Chainlink Data Streams
Chainlink Data Streams combines low-latency market data with automated execution to enable fast, user-friendly, high-throughput DeFi products.
“By supplying high-frequency market data using robust, decentralized infrastructure, Chainlink Data Streams enables high-throughput DeFi products to create a seamless user experience comparable to CEXs while providing unprecedented onchain execution speed and battle-tested security infrastructure,” the company announced in a press release.
Chainlink is known as a decentralized computing platform that has facilitated over $12 trillion in transaction value. It powers verifiable applications and high-integrity markets across various sectors, including banking, DeFi, and gaming.
Base Blockchain
Base is a decentralized blockchain network developed by Coinbase, built on Ethereum’s Layer 2 to support decentralized applications (dApps).
“Base’s builder-friendly environment is a natural fit for Chainlink products, and we’re excited to see all of the Chainlink platform now available on Base,” said Thodoris Karakostas, head of blockchain partnerships at Chainlink Labs in the release. He added that Chainlink Data Streams low-latency market data will empower developers to create next-generation DeFi products.
Chainlink VRF
Chainlink VRF (Verifiable Random Function) is the most widely adopted random number generator (RNG) in web3, having processed over 21 million request transactions for thousands of smart contracts. The recent VRF v2.5 upgrade brings several enhancements for developers, including streamlined billing and more accurate gas consumption predictions based on network conditions.
“We’re excited to see all of Chainlink’s infrastructure solutions are now on Base for developers to build next-gen onchain apps,” stated Tom Vieira, head of product at Base.
Base developers now have access to Chainlink Data Streams and VRF, along with CCIP, Functions, and Price Feeds.
Earlier this year, Chainlink launched Transporter, an application for moving crypto tokens and messages between blockchains powered by its CCIP. Additionally, it announced a collaboration with Fidelity International and crypto bank Sygnum focused on bringing net asset value data onchain.
