Canadian Stocks Market Summary
Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the REITs, Real Estate, and Consumer Discretionary sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.36%.
Best Performers
- Winpak Ltd. (TSX:WPK) rose 4.54% or 2.15 points to trade at 49.47 at the close.
- Interfor Corp (TSX:IFP) added 4.19% or 0.84 points to end at 20.87.
- Tilray Inc (TSX:TLRY) was up 3.51% or 0.08 points to 2.36 in late trade.
Worst Performers
- Storagevault Canada Inc (TSX:SVI) fell 6.89% or 0.31 points to trade at 4.19 at the close.
- Equinox Gold Corp (TSX:EQX) declined 3.94% or 0.32 points to end at 7.81.
- SSR Mining Inc (TSX:SSRM) was down 3.93% or 0.35 points to 8.56.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 492 to 423, and 111 ended unchanged.
Shares in Winpak Ltd. (TSX:WPK) rose to 3-year highs, gaining 4.54% or 2.15 to 49.47. Shares in Storagevault Canada Inc (TSX:SVI) fell to 52-week lows, down 6.89% or 0.31 to 4.19.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.63% to 11.04.
Commodities
- Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 8.40 to $2,757.30 a troy ounce.
- Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.02% or 1.42 to hit $71.61 a barrel.
- The December Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 1.50 to trade at $75.88 a barrel.
Currency Exchange
- CAD/USD was unchanged, 0.29% to 0.72.
- CAD/EUR unchanged 0.00% to 0.67.
US Dollar Index
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 104.19.
