Canadian Stock Market Update
Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Materials, IT, and Real Estate sectors led shares down.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.32%.
Best Performers
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were:
– ARC Resources Ltd. (TSX:ARX): up 4.30% or 0.93 points at 22.54.
– Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX:AAV): up 4.19% or 0.37 points at 9.21.
– Tourmaline Oil Corp. (TSX:TOU): up 4.01% or 2.37 points at 61.41.
Worst Performers
The worst performers included:
– Fortuna Mining Corp (TSX:FVI): down 5.39% or 0.37 points at 6.50.
– SilverCrest Metals Inc (TSX:SIL): down 5.09% or 0.70 points at 13.06.
– OceanaGold Corporation (TSX:OGC): down 5.09% or 0.20 points at 3.73.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange 484 to 453, while 85 ended unchanged.
Market Volatility
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, measuring the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.93% to 10.84.
Commodity Prices
- Gold Futures for December delivery: down 0.73% or 19.80 to $2,675.10 a troy ounce.
- Crude Oil for November delivery: up 1.39% or 0.94 to $68.61 a barrel.
- Brent Oil contract for December: up 1.20% or 0.85 to $71.94 a barrel.

- CAD/USD: unchanged at 0.74.
- CAD/EUR: unchanged at 0.66.
- US Dollar Index Futures: down 0.12% at 100.12.
