Canada Stock Market Update
Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, primarily due to losses in the Consumer Staples, REITs, and Healthcare sectors.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.13%.
Best Performers
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite included:
– Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR): rose 4.62% or 0.35 points to trade at 7.93.
– International Petroleum Corp (TSX:IPCO): added 4.41% or 0.73 points to end at 17.29.
– First Majestic Silver Corp. (TSX:AG): up 2.75% or 0.23 points to 8.60 in late trade.
Worst Performers
Conversely, the worst performers included:
– Parex Resources Inc (TSX:PXT): fell 2.42% or 0.30 points to trade at 12.10.
– Winpak Ltd. (TSX:WPK): declined 2.38% or 1.12 points to end at 45.91.
– Primaris Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX:PMZ_u): down 2.19% or 0.36 points to 16.09.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 479 to 451, with 107 ending unchanged.
Market Volatility
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, decreased 10.27% to 11.10.
Commodity Prices
Gold Futures for December delivery decreased 0.34% or 9.25 to $2,681.05 a troy ounce. In commodities trading,
– Crude oil for November delivery rose 1.68% or 1.17 to hit $71.00 a barrel.
– Brent oil for December rose 1.58% or 1.16 to trade at $74.72 a barrel.
Currency Exchange
CAD/USD remained unchanged at 0.05% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR was unchanged at 0.10% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures increased 0.42% to 101.36.
