Canada Stock Market Overview

Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Staples, and Energy sectors led shares lower.

BlackBerry Ltd (TSX:BB): added 3.64% or 0.16 points to end at 4.56.
TransAlta Corp (TSX:TA): up 3.53% or 0.70 points to 20.55 in late trade.

Worst Performers

The worst performers of the session were:
Air Canada (TSX:AC): fell 9.35% or 2.33 points to trade at 22.59.
Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb): declined 5.04% or 5.21 points to end at 98.15.
Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR): down 4.34% or 0.36 points to 7.94.

Market Summary

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 620 to 333, with 79 ending unchanged.

Shares in TransAlta Corp (TSX:TA) rose to 5-year highs, up 3.53% or 0.70 to 20.55.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.26% to 8.82.
