Canada Stock Market Update
Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Healthcare, and Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.10%.
Best Performers
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were:
– Baytex Energy Corp (TSX:BTE): rose 4.89% or 0.20 points to trade at 4.29 at the close.
– Tilray Inc (TSX:TLRY): added 4.35% or 0.10 points to end at 2.40.
– MEG Energy Corp (TSX:MEG): was up 4.21% or 1.06 points to 26.21 in late trade.
Worst Performers
The worst performers of the session were:
– BCE Inc (TSX:BCE): fell 9.62% or 4.31 points to trade at 40.50 at the close.
– Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC): declined 5.05% or 0.69 points to end at 12.96.
– South Bow Corp (TSX:SOBO): was down 4.19% or 1.45 points to 33.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 497 to 407 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in BCE Inc fell to 5-year lows, losing 9.62% or 4.31 to 40.50.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.85% to 12.76, a new 1-month high.

- Gold Futures for December delivery: down 0.06% or 1.75 to $2,747.45 a troy ounce.
- Crude oil for December: rose 3.14% or 2.18 to hit $71.67 a barrel.
- January Brent oil contract: rose 2.97% or 2.17 to trade at $75.27 a barrel.

- CAD/USD: unchanged 0.18% to 0.72.
- CAD/EUR: unchanged 0.18% to 0.66.
- US Dollar Index Futures: down 0.39% at 103.80.
