Canada Stock Market Update
Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Materials, Energy, and REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.35%.
Best Performers
- Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR): Rise of 9.22% or 0.86 points to trade at 10.19
- Orla Mining Ltd (TSX:OLA): Up 7.93% or 0.44 points to end at 5.99
- Denison Mines Corp (TSX:DML): Increased by 7.85% or 0.23 points to 3.16
Worst Performers
- Mattr Corp (TSX:MATR): Decreased by 4.57% or 0.63 points to trade at 13.15
- Boralex Inc (TSX:BLX): Fell 4.25% or 1.35 points to end at 30.45
- Shopify Inc (TSX:SHOP): Down 2.87% or 4.38 points to 148.49
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 571 to 376, with 85 ending unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.84% to 10.61.
Commodity Prices
- Gold Futures (December delivery): Up 1.74% or 44.80 to $2,614.90 a troy ounce.
- Crude Oil (January delivery): Increased by 3.47% or 2.32 to hit $69.24 a barrel.
- Brent Oil (January contract): Rose 3.29% or 2.34 to trade at $73.38 a barrel.
Currency Exchange Rates:
– CAD/USD: Unchanged at 0.71
– CAD/EUR: Unchanged at 0.67
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 106.15.
