Brazil Stock Market Overview

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumption, and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.16% to hit a new 3-month low.

Best Performers

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were:
– Companhia Brasileira De Distribuicao (BVMF:PCAR3): rose 4.87% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.37 at the close.
– Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3): added 1.60% or 0.09 points to end at 5.73.
– JBS SA (BVMF:JBSS3): was up 1.13% or 0.43 points to 38.44 in late trade.

The CBOE Brazil ETF Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.12% to 33.48.

Commodity Updates

• Gold Futures for February delivery were down 1.55% or 41.94 to $2,667.46 a troy ounce.
• Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.50% or 1.05 to hit $71.07 a barrel.
• The March US coffee C contract fell 0.98% or 3.14 to trade at $318.11.

Currency Rates

• USD/BRL was up 0.85% to 6.04.
• EUR/BRL rose 1.15% to 6.35.
• The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 106.64.
