Brazil Stock Market Update

Investing.com – Brazil stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the Basic Materials, Public Utilities, and Electric Power sectors dragging down shares.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa index fell by 0.55%, marking a new one-month low.

Best Performers

The session's best performers on the Bovespa included:
IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3): +12.29% (5.22 points) to 47.71
Atacadao SA (BVMF:CRFB3): +5.24% (0.37 points) to 7.43
Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF:COGN3): +4.41% (0.06 points) to 1.42

Worst Performers

On the downside, the worst performers were:
Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3): -2.95% (0.13 points) to 4.28
Hypera SA (BVMF:HYPE3): -2.81% (0.79 points) to 27.32
Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4): -2.66% (0.15 points) to 5.48

Overall, falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 661 to 287, with 44 unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil ETF Volatility, which gauges the implied volatility of Bovespa options, decreased by 0.35% to 28.61.

Commodity Prices

  • Gold Futures for December delivery fell 1.14% ($31.35) to $2,728.45 per troy ounce.
  • Crude Oil for December dropped 1.03% ($0.74) to $71.00 per barrel.
  • US Coffee C Contract for December increased 0.84% ($2.10) to $251.95.

Currency Exchange Rates

  • USD/BRL was unchanged at 5.69.
  • EUR/BRL remained steady at 6.15.

The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.32% to 104.24.
