Meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary

BRASILIA (Reuters) – Brazil lawmaker Eduardo Bolsonaro announced on Friday that he met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent earlier this week. He is lobbying for sanctions against officials involved in the trial of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.

The meeting occurred on Wednesday, as shared in a post on X. This is the same day Bessent was scheduled to meet Brazilian Finance Minister Fernando Haddad, who mentioned on Monday that the Treasury canceled their meeting without offering a reschedule.
