Boeing's November Jet Deliveries

Boeing (NYSE:BA) delivered 13 commercial jets in November, significantly down from 56 in the same month last year, as reported on Tuesday.

Deliveries fell from 14 in October, attributed largely to the seven-week-long strike that ended on November 5.

Boeing restarted production of its popular 737 MAX last week, following a report by Reuters. The goal is to increase production to 38 jets per month to recover from significant cash burn during the first three quarters of the year. The company is currently under increased scrutiny from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration after an incident where a door plug malfunctioned during a January flight involving an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9.

Production plans include resuming the 767, 777, and 777X lines in Everett shortly. However, production of the Boeing 787 in South Carolina remained unaffected by the strike.

Boeing emphasized a cautious approach, prioritizing quality, safety, and worker training, which contributed to the lower delivery numbers for the month.

In November, deliveries consisted of nine 737s, two 777 freighters, and two 787-9s. Notably, United Airlines received three jets, including two 737 MAXes and one 787.

In contrast, following Boeing's last major strike in November 2008, the company delivered only four aircraft that month.

Additionally, Boeing received 49 gross orders with 14 cancellations, which included 34 737s and 15 767s for the U.S. Air Force's KC-46 program. Germany-based TUI canceled orders for 14 jets and opted to lease from BOC Aviation, resulting in a net addition of 20 new 737 MAX orders.

Year-to-date, Boeing has recorded 427 gross orders and 370 net orders after factoring cancellations. After adjustments based on accounting standards, they booked 191 net orders.

In comparison, Airbus delivered more than 80 jets in November, as reported earlier this month by Reuters.
