BMW Recalls Mini Cooper SE Vehicles
BERLIN (Reuters) – German automaker BMW (ETR:BMWG) is recalling electric Mini Cooper SE vehicles due to battery issues that might affect over 140,000 cars worldwide, according to a company spokesperson.
Scope of the Recall
Approximately 39,000 vehicles are estimated to be impacted in Germany. Fortunately, there have been no known accidents or injuries associated with this recall.
Safety Concerns
The battery system has problems that could lead to overheating, and the statement warns that “a vehicle fire, even when the vehicle is parked, cannot be ruled out.”
Diagnostic Function
The car’s software includes a diagnostic feature that detects battery malfunctions and alerts the driver. Customers who receive alerts are advised to visit a Mini partner for assistance.
