Apple to Launch iPhone 16 with Apple Intelligence

Investing.com — Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) new iPhone is set to share the spotlight with Apple Intelligence at the tech giant’s ‘Glowtime’ product launch event next week. Many are optimistic that the new AI software could serve as a catalyst for upgrades, yet caution remains due to regulatory and geopolitical headwinds.

Analysts at Monness, Crespi, Hardt & Co., Inc. noted, “We believe smartphones supportive of new gen AI capabilities may provide the extra nudge necessary for consumers to justify an upgrade earlier than planned, even in a downbeat economic environment like this one,” ahead of the iPhone maker’s event on Sept. 9.

While the iPhone 16 family is not expected to feature significant hardware changes, the integration of Apple Intelligence could encourage users of older iPhone models to upgrade, potentially igniting a new iPhone upgrade cycle.

Apple Intelligence is anticipated to be compatible with all four models of the iPhone 16 family, creating pathways for upgrades across the entire iPhone range; however, the rollout of this new AI technology may not be immediate.

The analysts noted, “Apple Intelligence is expected to arrive with a lag relative to the launch of the iPhone 16 family, and the availability of its various features will be staggered.” They also mentioned that the initial release will only be in U.S. English, with other language support planned over the next year.

Despite the buzz around an AI-enhanced iPhone, the analysts express caution on Apple stock, citing regulatory headwinds, geopolitical risks, and economic challenges.

Nonetheless, Apple’s foray into generational AI will be closely monitored as the tech product trendsetter seeks to maintain its competitive edge in an increasingly saturated smartphone market.
