Apple to Switch to OLED Screens for iPhones in 2025
According to a report by Reuters, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is planning to switch to using organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screens for all iPhone models starting in 2025. This change will lead to the complete phase-out of liquid crystal displays (LCDs).
As a result of this shift, Apple’s supplier list will no longer include Japan’s Sharp (OTC:SHCAY) Corp (TYO:6753) and Japan Display.
Additionally, Apple has started placing orders for OLED displays for the upcoming iPhone SE, sourcing from BOE Technology (SZ:000725) in China and LG Display (KS:034220) in South Korea.
