KOR Protocol Unveils KOR Player
KOR Protocol, a startup backed by Animoca Brands, has launched a new streaming service known as KOR Player. Early support comes from renowned DJs such as Joel Zimmerman (deadmau5), Plastkman, Inder Phull, Ben Turner, and Dean Wilson.
Overview of KOR Player
The KOR Player allows users to play and remix music, providing a suite of tools, including a proprietary “sound library” where artists can upload samples for intellectual property. The platform also incorporates artificial intelligence to verify music provenance and facilitate royalty payments in cryptocurrency.
Impact on Copyright and Artist Monetization
KOR aims to address ambiguities in music copyright laws and the unauthorized use of intellectual property in various sectors, including video games, live streams, and esports broadcasts. This initiative seeks to create new distribution channels for artists and labels to engage with fans and monetize their creations, as mentioned in a press release.
Early Adoption and Support
The startup has reportedly achieved 550,000 user signups and has the backing of Japanese telecommunications company KDDI.
Animoca Brands has previously invested in notable ventures, including Yuga Labs, Axie Infinity, Polygon, Consensys, and Magic Eden, among many others.
