Studio Chain: A New Arbitrum-Based Blockchain for Entertainment
A new Arbitrum-based blockchain called Studio Chain is set to launch, aiming to explore the potential of cryptocurrency in the entertainment sector.
The Karrat Foundation, in collaboration with the Arbitrum Foundation, is behind this initiative. The Karrat Foundation is responsible for the KARRAT token, utilized by AMGI Studios’ battle royale game My Pet Hooligan, which boasts over 500,000 downloads on the Epic Games Store during its early access phase. The KARRAT token will also function as the native token for Studio Chain, with My Pet Hooligan slated for launch on this new blockchain.
> Quick Sidenote: A couple of years ago, I visited AMGI’s studio in California, where My Pet Hooligan is being developed. The team displayed immense enthusiasm for their video game and their unique rabbit-based IP, in addition to their aspirations for animated films. Given their proximity to Hollywood, this vision ties well into the Studio Chain concept.
Arbitrum Orbit is the technology that allows others to launch their own chains, all interconnected to form “a universe of chains.” In contrast, Arbitrum One is the primary Arbitrum chain that operates as an EVM-compatible Layer 2 on Ethereum, utilizing optimistic rollups to minimize network costs. Thus, Studio Chain will establish itself as an individual chain within Arbitrum’s network.

“By leveraging Arbitrum’s powerful infrastructure, we’re able to create gaming experiences that were previously impossible,” stated Luke Paglia, COO and co-founder of AMGI Studios. “My Pet Hooligan is just the beginning — this collaboration enables seamless in-game asset ownership, true player-driven interactive extensions, and enhanced interoperability that will transform how audiences engage with entertainment.”
Furthermore, a Karrat Foundation representative suggested that this chain could revolutionize the way “entertainment IP is created and distributed.” Although this is an ambitious statement, further specifics regarding their plans remain unknown.
Studio Chain will face competition from several established gaming chains, such as Ronin, Sui, Immutable, and Abstract. Additionally, there are chains launched to support specific titles. For instance, Off The Grid from Gunzilla Games has introduced its own chain, Gunz, using Avalanche and recorded 4.9 million monthly active wallets as of January 2025. Similarly, MapleStory is preparing to launch its crypto version with its own Avalanche chain.
Gala has long promoted its crypto-powered film vision, although we have yet to see that project achieve significant success. The Gala FILM token, launched last year, is currently down 93% from its all-time high.

Ultimately, despite the ambitious plans, no major blockchain film or television projects or platforms have yet made it into the mainstream. Recently, smaller scale projects like The Normal Mfer, an animated short that references meme and crypto culture alongside the Mfers NFT collection, have garnered attention.
