Walmex Awaits Antitrust Ruling
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexico's Walmex, the local unit of U.S.-based retail giant Walmart (NYSE: WMT), anticipates that the antitrust watchdog Cofece will soon announce its final ruling regarding an investigation into alleged anti-competitive practices.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Javier Trevino, a senior vice president at Walmex, mentioned, "It will probably happen in just a few days or weeks."
Cofece has accused Walmex of enforcing prices and terms on its suppliers or distributors, highlighting concerns over a lack of competition in various regions of Mexico.
The company's top executive, Ignacio Caride, stated that Walmex has not breached any legal regulations, asserting, "We have always acted in line with the law."
