BNSF Railway and International Union Reach Agreement
(Reuters) – Berkshire Hathaway-owned BNSF Railway announced that members of the International Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation union’s railroad, mechanical, and engineering department voted to ratify a five-year agreement with the company on Friday.
The agreement includes:
– A yearly wage hike of 3.5% over five years.
– Improved health care benefits.
– Increased vacation days for railroaders earlier in their careers.
SMART General President Michael Coleman expressed appreciation for BNSF’s leadership in resolving this round of national negotiations promptly.
Additionally, the railroad reached a tentative agreement with the union’s transportation division (SMART-TD) earlier in September.
