Milady Cult’s New Social Network
The Milady gang believes social media is broken, calling their fan community the “diaspora of chan culture,” highlighting edgy platforms like 4chan. To address this, the creators of the NFT project are launching a rival social media network called RemiliaNET, starting with official Milady profiles.
RemiliaNET
RemiliaNET is an in-browser experience that enables the community to track Milady achievements and build a “social credit score,” inclusive of a competitive leaderboard. An additional platform, RemiliaChat, aims to provide a comprehensive social media experience, featuring an algorithm-driven feed and chat function, although its release date remains unconfirmed.
> “Remilia’s goal has never been just to dominate crypto and NFTs. We plan to save the entire culture of the internet, and the world through it, in the same way we did for crypto. RemiliaChat is how we achieve this,” stated Michael Dragovic, Chief of Staff at Remilia Corporation, in an interview with Decrypt. “RemiliaNET is the identity service layer of Remilia Chat. We’re launching it now prior to releasing full social features to begin the onboarding process.”
Countdown Frenzy
Two weeks prior, a mysterious countdown on the Milady Cult website sparked a frenzy among community members, leading to various theories and memes. An additional eight days were added due to the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, heightening tensions.
When the countdown finally reached zero, it was revealed that RemiliaNET is now open for business. Users can choose from default Kagami-style profile pictures or connect their wallets to use NFT profile pictures from various collections.
The platform’s primary function allows the Milady community to track achievements, contributing to a global “social credit score.” Users can earn points by minting NFTs, engaging on the Miladycraft Minecraft server, or competing in alternate reality games.
Achievements and Rewards
The Remilia Corporation promises a more seamless experience with the launch of RemiliaNET, increasing the range of available achievements and notifying users about new ones. Dragovic indicated that successful participation in the community may lead to potential rewards, including CULT tokens based on users’ achievements. Furthermore, social credit scores aim to detect sybil attacks while promoting positive community behavior.
Future Ambitions: RemiliaChat
RemiliaNET is just the first step towards the larger goal of creating RemiliaChat, which aims to disrupt the social media landscape. The core team has experimented with various platforms and seeks to learn from the failures of established networks like Reddit and Twitter.
“RemiliaChat aims to foster a new platform for sensible online discourse,” Dragovic emphasized, noting that the community, rooted in internet culture, yearns for a fresh space. The platform targets a content feed and chat with functionality designed to diminish low-quality content while promoting anonymity.
A Place for Radical Discourse
While Milady, Remilia, and associated communities showcase diverse ideas along the political spectrum, some external observers might label them far-right. The group’s engagement with controversial topics often stems from their leader, Fang’s idea of “pre-cancelling”—an ethos that sometimes leads members to adopt shock humor.
Although RemiliaChat seeks minimal moderation, the platform acknowledges the necessity for a system to prevent the spread of harmful content. Dragovic assures that while moderation will be limited, the site design itself will influence user behavior and engagement positively.
In summary, Remilia aims to create a social platform emphasizing open discourse while attempting to navigate the complexities of online moderation and community dynamics.
