Canadian Stock Market Update
Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, with losses in the Energy, Consumer Discretionary, and Industrials sectors leading shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.19%.
Best Performers
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite included:
– Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:LSPD), which rose 13.28% or 2.48 points to trade at 21.15 at the close.
– Aya Gold & Silver Inc (TSX:AYA), which added 6.44% or 1.12 points to end at 18.52.
– Denison Mines Corp (TSX:DML), which was up 4.55% or 0.11 points to 2.53 in late trade.
Worst Performers
The worst performers of the session were:
– Magna International Inc (TSX:MG), which fell 5.48% or 3.15 points to trade at 54.38.
– Precision Drilling Corporation (TSX:PD), which declined 4.14% or 3.65 points to end at 84.50.
– Athabasca Oil Corp (TSX:ATH), which was down 4.09% or 0.21 points to 4.92.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 539 to 390, with 113 ending unchanged.
Shares in Aya Gold & Silver Inc (TSX:AYA) rose to all-time highs, gaining 6.44% or 1.12 to 18.52.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 5.40% to 10.51.
Commodities Update
- Gold Futures for December delivery were up 0.22% or 5.90 to $2,682.90 a troy ounce.
- Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.45% or 1.75 to hit $69.81 a barrel.
- December Brent oil contract fell 1.93% or 1.44 to trade at $73.03 a barrel.
Currency Update
- CAD/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR was unchanged 0.05% to 0.67.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 100.68.
