Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Ethereum Futures Volume Decline
CME Ethereum (ETH) futures volume hit a multi-month low in August, as reported by The Block.
Aggregated monthly trading volumes for CME Ethereum futures in August were $20.8 billion, representing a 31% decline from July’s $30.5 billion. This volume is the lowest since November 2023.
Additionally, a recent CCData monthly Exchange Review noted a similar decrease in Ethereum futures trading on the CME, indicating lower institutional interest in the asset.
Ethereum Exchange-Traded Fund Trading Volume Decline
Data from The Block reveals that spot Ethereum ETFs, managed by firms like BlackRock and Fidelity, also experienced a drop in trading volumes in August compared to July.
On Tuesday, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs recorded net outflows of $47.4 million, the largest daily outflow since August 2. The Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE) reported outflows of $52.31 million, while Fidelity’s FETH experienced net inflows of $4.91 million. Other spot ether ETFs had no significant flows.
The daily trading volume for these ether ETFs decreased to $163.5 million on Tuesday, down from $173.66 million the previous Friday.
In market movements, Bitcoin rose approximately 1% to $58,350, while Ether saw a 0.6% increase to $2,461 as per The Block’s price page.
