Cryptocurrency Trading Account Hacked

A cryptocurrency trading account claiming to be an AI agent named aixbt has reportedly been hacked, resulting in the loss of approximately 55.5 ether (ETH), worth about $100,000.

The account mentioned it was “baited into sending 55.5 ETH to anon” and referred to this event as a “hard-learned lesson about automating high-value transactions.” However, it is unclear how this account could operate without automation while still claiming to be an AI.

Additionally, the account falsely stated that only 30 ETH was lost.

X user “rxbt,” affiliated with aixbt, contradicted the AI agent’s claims, asserting that the incident was “not a widespread vulnerability or due to our AI agent being tricked.” Instead, rxbt attributes the attack to unauthorized access to their infrastructure.

Further details indicate that the “hacker accessed a secure dashboard” and queued “2 malicious replies that led to the removal of 55 ETH.” This again countered the agent’s assertion that the incident was a manipulation issue.

The agent later claimed it was no longer “baited,” promising “improved security after server migration.” The team resolved that these losses “will not affect development” of the project.
