Hacking Incident Targets TurkNet

Hacking incidents are continuing, with TurkNet, a popular internet service provider, being the latest target.

Hackers claimed to have accessed personal data of some customers, including names, phone numbers, subscription numbers, Turkish ID numbers, and addresses. They threatened to leak the entire database unless TurkNet paid 3 Bitcoins (BTC) within a specified time frame.

TurkNet officials confirmed the cyber attack and issued a public statement:

> “For the information of the public,
>
> As TurkNet, we have prioritised trust, transparency, accountability, and corporate governance since our establishment. We share this statement in fulfillment of our responsibility to these principles.
>
> We detected a similar cyber attack against TurkNet on March 11, 2025, amidst rising global cyber threats.
>
> Importantly, our services remain uninterrupted, and the attack did not involve our customers’ financial details or passwords. This information is secure.
>
> We are collaborating with public institutions to hold those responsible accountable, and we’ve notified the Personal Data Protection Authority and the Information Technologies and Communication Authority about the breach.
>
> Additional security measures have been implemented, allowing customers to safely use our Online Transaction Center and mobile application with their existing passwords.
>
> We are committed to transparently managing this process and communicating directly with affected customers.
>
> Our focus remains on maintaining top-level cyber security and providing uninterrupted, reliable service.”
