Sony Integrates LINE into Web3
Sony’s blockchain division announced plans to bring Japanese social media giant LINE into the web3 space by adapting several mini-apps onto its Soneium network.
LINE has around 200 million active users and will bring four games to Soneium: Sleepagotchi, Farm Frens, Puffy Match, and Pocket Mob, introducing features such as in-game rewards and purchases.
Soneium is managed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, a collaboration between Sony and Singapore’s Startale Labs. The partnership aims to make web3 accessible, transcending user boundaries.
Jun Watanabe, chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, noted that integrating LINE’s successful mini-apps would enhance user engagement and adoption in the Soneium ecosystem.
Launched in January, Soneium is a layer-2 blockchain on Ethereum using Optimism’s OP Stack technology, currently ranked as the 15th largest layer-2 network by total value locked.
