X Faces Massive Cyberattack
Elon Musk has revealed that X is experiencing a significant cyberattack, deemed larger and more sophisticated than the usual daily attacks. This incident may involve a nation-state or a well-funded hacking group.
Musk’s announcement followed numerous reports from X users regarding widespread outages, login failures, and unusual platform disruptions, starting around 5:30 a.m. ET.
According to Downdetector, a site that tracks online service complaints, there were over 40,000 outage reports at the peak of these disruptions. The problems continued throughout the morning, with additional outages noted around 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. ET.
X has faced outages before, such as during the Trump livestream interview last August. That event, which Musk hosted, also encountered significant technical difficulties before it began.
Ultimately, this latest incident has been traced back to a large DDoS attack, causing widespread disruptions and hindering many users from participating in the live event.
