CZ on Ethereum and BNB

CZ, the founder of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, recently shared insights on Ethereum and BNB via his X account. He admitted to missing the Ethereum opportunity, which motivated him to create BNB and establish Binance.

In response to a post highlighting CZ and Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin as key figures in promoting cryptocurrency’s success, CZ praised Buterin’s contributions:

> “Crypto wouldn’t be what it is today without Vitalik’s contributions, smart contracts, ERC20, NFTs, SBT, L2 and so much more.

> “I’m just a regular guy who’s still learning about blockchain.”

When asked if he held Ethereum, CZ mentioned that he has a small amount of ETH.

CZ recounted meeting Vitalik Buterin at a conference in 2013, admitting that although he was aware of the ETH ICO in 2014, he did not participate and therefore missed a significant opportunity.

He reflected:
> “There is Ethereum but not a meaningful amount. Might be a little bit here and there in an old wallet. Remember BNB was first launched as an ERC20 token, and we need gas fees in ETH.”

> “I missed the whole ETH train right before my eyes. I met Vitalik at a bitcoin conference in 2013. I knew about the ICO in 2014. We’re talking about a missed opportunity.”
>
> “But still, if I had bought ETH that early on, I might not have had the desire to launch Binance or BNB.”
