Whale Buyers Return to AI Agent Tokens

Whale buyers are showing renewed interest in AI agent tokens, even as the sector has not fully recovered. Smart money investors are accumulating these assets, particularly near recent lows.

Analysts have observed this movement with top AI agent tokens like VIRTUAL and the meme token FARTCOIN seeing increased activity. Data from Nansen reveals a variety of both trending and established tokens.

Smart Money Activity

As of March 3, many established AI agent tokens exhibit ‘leading’ indicators, suggesting a trend reversal, even though the broader AI agent sector shows lagging indicators. Buyers are attempting to accumulate promising tokens without overly high expectations for rapid returns.

Despite the AI agent token narrative being weak recently, inflows into these assets remain strong. The Virtuals ecosystem is witnessing a slowdown in individual agent trading, with few new pairs created, resembling trends in meme tokens. Currently, VIRTUAL hovers around $0.96, looking to recover from its lows.

AI Agent Tokens Show Signs of Recovery

The entire AI agent sector is valued above $6B, significantly down from its high of over $17B. Assets like VIRTUAL are over 75% down from peaks, entering a new accumulation phase.

According to Nansen, VIRTUAL experienced nearly $500K in net inflows within 24 hours. While AI agent tokens are trading at a smaller scale than before, both smart and retail traders are beginning to buy the dip.

AI Agents Transitioning Beyond Memes

The AI agent sector is evolving beyond just meme-based tokens, providing real utility and engagement. AIXBT leads the sector with significant trading volume, offering social media screening and analysis tools.

AIXBT trades at $0.18 and sits near the top in market mindshare. VIRTUAL remains a leader by market cap, while FARTCOIN shows signs of returning as a cult token. Solana is also a viable ecosystem for AI agents, with over $2.5B locked in Solana-based tokens.
