Changpeng Zhao, a former Binance CEO, commented on the recent efforts by US states to establish Strategic Bitcoin Reserves, highlighting Montana’s progress towards a local reserve bill.
“There is no escape” from Bitcoin
Zhao, co-founder of Binance, discussed the bill passed by Montana aimed at creating a local Bitcoin reserve. During his remarks, he referenced a tweet from Dennis Porter, CEO of Satoshi Action Fund, which noted that Montana is the fourth state to advance the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve question to the House floor, joining Utah, Oklahoma, and Arizona.
CZ emphasized that financial institutions and retail investors should consider acquiring Bitcoin now, or wait until US government purchases conclude: “You can buy bitcoins after the US government is done buying, or before.” He insists that “there is no other choice.”

Responding to a comment on his tweet, Zhao mentioned that “there is no escape” from Bitcoin, comparing it to the Internet and traditional money, which are essential in modern society: “There is no escape… It’s like, you can’t not use the internet (or money).”

A day before discussing Bitcoin reserves, Zhao highlighted the role of donations in cryptocurrency to aid disaster victims. He shared an unexpected incident where he received his donation back, plus additional crypto. Following the LIBRA scandal, Zhao donated 150 BNB (approximately $100,000 at the time) to victims of a pump-and-dump scheme.
The funds were sent to a university student who added another $50,000 to assist the victims—likely profiting from BNB himself. Subsequently, the address that received Zhao’s donation returned a larger crypto amount along with additional tokens.
