Paul Krugman’s X Account Hacked to Promote Fake Token
Earlier today, the official X account of Bitcoin critic Paul Krugman was hacked to promote a fake token called “The New York Times Token” (NYTC).
The fraudulent post included a link to a fake article claiming that the media outlet was entering the crypto space.
Such hacking incidents are common on X, with no apparent remedy available to prevent them.
As reported by U.Today, the official account of Time magazine was compromised in late January to promote a cryptocurrency scam.
Krugman has long been a vocal critic of cryptocurrency, denouncing Bitcoin since its inception. In 2013, he famously wrote an op-ed labeling Bitcoin as “evil.” In 2021, the Nobel laureate described crypto as a “long-running Ponzi scheme.”
