UK Assets in Focus
Investing.com – UK assets have recently gained attention, prompting Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) to survey investors on their views, intentions, and positioning regarding these assets.
Survey Insights
According to Morgan Stanley’s note dated Jan. 14, the survey revealed that many investors are considering UK assets for future investment. Analysts noted, “Overall, the survey was encouraging in that a high proportion of surveyed investors are keeping UK assets on the radar with the potential to add in the future.”
Buying vs. Selling
The survey showed a tendency towards keeping UK assets ‘on the radar’ or making near-term purchases rather than selling them off in light of recent developments. However, this inclination to buy was strongest among those already holding significant UK assets, while neutral investors were more likely to continue monitoring UK assets.
Catalysts for Investment
Poll respondents identified market stability or significant fiscal tightening announcements as key triggers for purchasing GBP-exposed assets. Notably, US and Rest of World (RoW) investors, along with those with minimal UK exposure, were particularly inclined to view meaningful fiscal tightening as a relevant catalyst.
Investment Preferences
The survey indicated that investors were most interested in incrementally acquiring UK global stocks/sectors, followed by UK banks. US/RoW investors also exhibited interest in UK real estate, while Europe ex UK investors favored UK banks.
Future Expectations
Furthermore, surveyed investors anticipated a slight increase in Bank of England (BoE) rate cuts compared to current market pricing, with a more pronounced expectation among US/RoW investors.
