2 cryptocurrencies to reach a $100 billion market cap in 2025

A $100 Billion Market Cap

Two crypto giants have reached a $100 billion market cap, but maintaining it remains challenging. This scenario opens opportunities for rivals to seize the lead.

In the crypto market, investors often use diversification to manage risk, with top tokens being seen as potential ‘next big things’ during Bitcoin peaks. Since November, the market has drastically shifted, leading some high-cap tokens to surge as beneficiaries of the ‘Trump pump,’ while others faced declines.

With 2025 on the horizon and increased uncertainty, investors are likely looking to adjust their portfolios. A key question arises: which high-cap token will next reach a $100 billion market cap? And is now the right time to invest during a market dip?

Breaking Down the Competition

Currently, only three crypto tokens have market caps exceeding $100 billion, leading to intensified competition. With predictions being defied, it’s uncertain whether more tokens will join this elite group or if it will contract.

However, two contenders are poised to challenge for the $100 billion mark: Solana (SOL) at approximately $93 billion and Binance Coin (BNB) at around $96 billion. After hitting an all-time high of $264, Solana now struggles to stay above $220 following a market downturn. Conversely, BNB enjoyed a peak of $793, pushing its market cap to $112 billion, though maintaining that level has proven difficult.

Both SOL and BNB are leading the way, outpacing all other high-cap tokens, but the volatility of recent months has made the market unpredictable.

Rivals Lurk, Eyeing the $100 Billion Market Cap

The crypto space includes both ‘winners’ and ‘underdogs.’ Notably, Ripple (XRP) made significant gains in November, jumping to a $130 billion market cap. This has challenged Solana’s reign, drawing unexpected capital.

Despite this, Solana, known as the “Ethereum Killer,” boasts a robust infrastructure and application. Though it might seem to be in decline, this could simply be a passing phase. Futures traders are supportive, showing Solana’s Open Interest remaining stable around $5 – $6 billion, with increased “long” positions at price peaks.

Investing in SOL might require patience, given its solid fundamentals and historical resilience as it remains a contender for the $100 billion market cap.

BNB’s near $800 breakout suggests strength, while XRP’s future remains ambiguous—is its rise temporary or part of a larger trend? The outcome remains to be seen in 2025. As SOL and BNB emerge as front-runners, this could be an opportune moment to buy during the downturn, keeping in mind the need for long-term investment strategies rather than short-term gains.
