Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.09%

Brazil Stock Market Overview

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, with losses in the Electric Power, Real Estate, and Consumption sectors leading shares down.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.09%, hitting a new 6-month low.

Best Performers

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were:
Hypera SA (BVMF:HYPE3): rose 3.32% or 0.60 points to trade at 18.65.
Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (BVMF:SUZB3): added 2.72% or 1.62 points to end at 61.24.
IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3): up 2.42% or 0.91 points to 38.50 in late trade.

Worst Performers

The worst performers of the session included:
Automob Participações SA (BVMF:AMOB3): fell 19.05% or 0.08 points to trade at 0.34.
Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4): declined 9.34% or 0.34 points ending at 3.30.
Brava Energia SA (BVMF:BRAV3): down 7.67% or 1.59 points to 19.13.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange.

Shares in Automob Participações SA fell to all-time lows, dropping 19.05% to 0.34. Azul SA Pref also fell to all-time lows, down 9.34% to 3.30.

Market Volatility

The CBOE Brazil ETF Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, decreased 4.00% to 34.58.

Commodities Trading

  • Gold Futures for February delivery rose 0.20% or 5.30 to $2,633.50 a troy ounce.
  • Crude Oil for February climbed 1.33% or 0.92 to $70.16 a barrel.
  • US Coffee C contract for March rose 0.69% or 2.27 to trade at $329.52.

Currency Exchange Rates

  • USD/BRL was unchanged at 6.19.
  • EUR/BRL fell 0.09% to 6.44.

US Dollar Index

The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.18% to 108.00.
