Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.88%

Brazil Stock Market Update

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Electric Power, Real Estate, and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.88%.

Best Performers

  • Hypera SA (BVMF:HYPE3): +3.32% (0.60 points) to 18.65
  • Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (BVMF:SUZB3): +2.72% (1.62 points) to 61.24
  • IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3): +2.42% (0.91 points) to 38.50

Worst Performers

  • Automob Participações SA (BVMF:AMOB3): -19.05% (0.08 points) to 0.34
  • Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4): -9.34% (0.34 points) to 3.30
  • Brava Energia SA (BVMF:BRAV3): -7.67% (1.59 points) to 19.13

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 581 to 379, with 38 remaining unchanged.

Shares in Automob Participações SA (BVMF:AMOB3) fell to all-time lows, down 19.05% to 0.34. Shares in Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) also fell to all-time lows, down 9.34% to 3.30.

The CBOE Brazil ETF Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.78% to 36.02.

Commodities Update

  • Gold Futures for February delivery: -0.64% (16.88) to $2,628.22 a troy ounce
  • Crude oil for delivery in February: +0.17% (0.12) to $69.58 a barrel
  • March US coffee C contract: +0.26% (0.86) to $325.86

Currency Update

  • USD/BRL was up 1.80% to 6.20
  • EUR/BRL rose 0.98% to 6.45

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 107.85.
