Trump Transfers Stake in Trump Media & Technology Group to Revocable Trust
Investing.com— President-elect Donald Trump has transferred his entire stake in Trump Media & Technology Group Corp (NASDAQ:DJT) into a revocable trust as an SEC filing showed on Thursday evening.
Trump moved 114.75 million shares to the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, representing his full stake in the social media firm. With DJT’s close at $35.41 on Thursday, this stake was valued at over $4 billion.
This transfer indicates that Trump no longer directly holds shares in Trump Media and instead holds his stake indirectly. His stake includes over 50% of DJT’s outstanding shares.
Additionally, a separate filing reveals that Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is the sole trustee of the revocable trust and has exclusive voting and investment rights over the trust's holdings.
Transferring holdings to a trust is a common practice among investors, allowing for greater flexibility in tax reporting.
Trump previously executed similar transfers in 2016 and 2017, primarily for real estate holdings. However, this recent transfer marks the largest such move made by the President-elect.
Trump Media operates the Truth Social platform, known as an alternative to X, and the company went public through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company earlier this year.
