Foxconn Executive in France for Nissan Stake Talks
TAIPEI (Reuters) – A senior executive of Taiwan-based contract manufacturer Foxconn is in France to discuss a potential stake purchase in Nissan Motor from Renault, its biggest shareholder.
Jun Seki, a former Nissan executive leading Foxconn's electric vehicle business, is meeting with Renault officials, according to Taiwan’s Central News Agency.
Sources say Foxconn is in discussions to acquire at least part of Renault's holding in Nissan.
Foxconn did not immediately comment on the reports, and Renault was not reachable for comment. Nissan declined to provide any statements.
This move comes as Nissan is also in talks with Honda to deepen cooperation amid financial challenges, recently announcing a $2.6 billion cost savings plan.
