Stellantis Advances Hybrid Ram Truck Launch
(Reuters) – Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) announced on Wednesday that it will expedite the launch of a new hybrid version of its best-selling Ram pickup truck, moving ahead of the electric version due to declining EV demand.
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger will be available for consumer orders in the first half of next year, while the battery-electric light duty Ram 1500 is now set to launch in 2026, pushed back from the originally planned first half of 2025.
The automaker cited "overwhelming" customer interest as a key reason for advancing the hybrid's launch.
As EV demand diminishes, automakers are focusing more on hybrid models amid rising interest rates and inadequate charging infrastructure. The global auto industry is also preparing for possible shifts in EV-friendly policies under U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, as reported by Reuters.
