Russia Stock Market Update

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, with losses in the Oil & Gas, Mining, and Telecoms sectors.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index declined 1.67% to hit a new 52-week low.

Best Performers

The best performers on the MOEX Russia Index were:
Polyus PJSC (MCX:PLZL): rose 4.02% (+526.00 points) to 13,600.00.
TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin Pref (MCX:TATN_p): added 1.80% (+9.80 points) to 553.70.
Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX:CBOM): up 1.79% (+0.14 points) to 8.06.

Worst Performers

The worst performers included:
LUKOIL PJSC (MCX:LKOH): fell 7.15% (-485.00 points) to 6,294.50.
Severstal PJSC (MCX:CHMF): declined 3.60% (-38.00 points) to 1,016.40.
OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL): down 2.63% (-0.78 points) to 28.85.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 139 to 101, with 13 ending unchanged.

Shares of Severstal PJSC fell to 52-week lows, while OK Rusal MKPAO shares hit 3-year lows.

Market Volatility

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, measuring implied volatility of MOEX options, was down 1.97% to 48.38.

Commodity Prices

  • Gold Futures (February delivery): down 0.32% (-8.59) to $2,661.41 per troy ounce.
  • Crude Oil (January delivery): fell 1.34% (-0.95) to $69.76 per barrel.
  • Brent Oil (February contract): down 0.89% (-0.66) to $73.25 per barrel.

Currency Exchange Rates

  • USD/RUB: up 0.97% to 104.60.
  • EUR/RUB: rose 0.77% to 109.72.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 106.67.
