Launch of W5 Smart Wallet Standard on TON Blockchain

The TON Core team, in collaboration with the non-custodial wallet Tonkeeper, has introduced the W5 smart wallet standard, facilitating gasless transactions on the TON blockchain.

Originally developed by Tonkeeper and later approved as a standard by the TON Core team, the W5 smart wallet allows users to transact using USDT to cover transaction fees and Notcoin (NOT) for gas fees when sending Notcoin, as stated by the Block.

“The W5 Smart Wallet has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible on TON blockchain,” said Tonkeeper CEO Oleg Andreev. “Our collaboration with TON Core ensures that users experience unparalleled security, efficiency, and ease of use. This simplicity is key to mainstream blockchain adoption and putting crypto in everyone’s pocket.”

With this update, users no longer need to hold toncoin for payments on TON, making it easier to start using the blockchain, according to the TON Foundation.

“The new W5 Smart Wallet aims to make TON transactions more social, promoting mass adoption,” mentioned TON Core Technical Lead Anatoliy Makosov. The wallet features two-factor authentication, password recovery, and gasless fees paid in USDT, simplifying the onboarding process for new users.

Additionally, the standard supports advanced parallel processing, allowing users to conduct up to 255 transactions simultaneously—whether transferring multiple NFTs to collectors or managing decentralized subscriptions efficiently.

The new standard is already live on Tonkeeper and will soon be available on other self-custodial wallets like TON Space and MyTonWallet, with plans for additional TON-based wallets in the months ahead.

TON Blockchain Growth in 2024 Amidst Telegram Mini-App Craze

TON reportedly has 5.8 million monthly active on-chain wallets. The introduction of gasless transactions aims to streamline user onboarding and engage a larger segment of Telegram’s 950 million users, particularly through mini-app games built on the TON blockchain. “This provides Web2 user experience with the advantages of Web3,” noted the TON Foundation.

As of July 24, the seven-day moving average of TON’s daily active addresses has surged to over 350,000, bolstered by the popularity of Telegram mini-games like Notcoin, Hamster Kombat, Yescoin, and Catizen.
