Walmart China Partners with Meituan
SHANGHAI (Reuters) – Walmart China announced on Tuesday a strategic partnership with Meituan, China's largest food delivery company.
The partnership aims to accelerate Walmart China's e-commerce business, which currently constitutes nearly half of its sales in the country. According to a post on WeChat, Walmart's stores in China are already integrated into Meituan's delivery ecosystem.
In addition to its partnership with Meituan, Walmart China operates 50 Sam's Club stores, catering to the growing demand among Chinese consumers for membership-based retail.
Previously, Walmart was linked with JD.com before selling its approximately $3.7 billion stake in August, choosing to concentrate on its operations in China.
