Meta Releases AI Model: Meta Motivo

(Reuters) – Meta (NASDAQ:META) announced on Thursday the release of an artificial intelligence model named Meta Motivo. This model can control the movements of a human-like digital agent, aiming to enhance the Metaverse experience.

Meta has been investing tens of billions of dollars into AI, augmented reality, and other Metaverse technologies, raising its capital expense forecast for 2024 to a record high of $37 billion to $40 billion.

The company is also releasing many of its AI models for free to developers, believing that this open approach could foster the creation of better tools for its services and ultimately benefit its business.

> Meta stated, "We believe this research could pave the way for fully embodied agents in the Metaverse, leading to more lifelike NPCs, democratization of character animation, and new types of immersive experiences."

Meta Motivo specifically addresses body control issues commonly found in digital avatars, enabling them to perform movements in a more realistic and human-like manner.

Additionally, Meta introduced a new training model called the Large Concept Model (LCM) for language modeling. This model aims to "decouple reasoning from language representation."

> The LCM significantly differs from typical large language models (LLM). Instead of predicting the next token, the LCM predicts the next concept or high-level idea, represented by a full sentence in a multimodal and multilingual embedding space.

Other AI tools recently released by Meta include the Video Seal, which embeds a hidden watermark into videos. This watermark is invisible to the naked eye but remains traceable.
