Belfast Legal Action Against Disney
Veteran Irish militant Marian Price has initiated legal proceedings against Walt Disney after her portrayal in the streaming series "Say Nothing", which depicts her killing of Jean McConville in 1972.
The shooting of McConville, mother of ten, was among the most controversial incidents in Northern Ireland's sectarian violence, claiming over 3,000 lives over three decades. "Say Nothing" is based on the 2018 book by Patrick Radden Keefe and has been available on Hulu and Disney+ since last month.
Price’s lawyers sent pre-action correspondence to Disney, stating, "It is difficult to envisage a more egregious allegation than the one leveled against our client." Solicitor Peter Corrigan emphasized that the allegations are unjustified and harmful, forcing Price to pursue legal action against Disney.
Disney has not responded to requests for comment.
Marian Price gained notoriety alongside her sister Dolours for their involvement in a 1973 IRA bombing campaign in London that injured over 200 people. The series depicts Price as responsible for McConville's abduction and killing in front of her children. McConville's son, Michael, has also objected to the portrayal of his mother's death as entertainment.
