Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX), which rose 3.77% or 260.00 points to trade at 7,160.00 at the close. Meanwhile, J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 3.08% or 7.80 points to end at 261.20 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was up 3.04% or 75.00 points to 2,539.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which fell 3.85% or 26.00 points to trade at 649.00 at the close. Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) declined 2.57% or 16.00 points to end at 606.00 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) was down 2.35% or 62.00 points to 2,573.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 973 to 664 and 665 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.04% or 1.09 to $2,665.89 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.19% or 0.13 to hit $68.85 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.18 to trade at $72.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 106.16.
