Lyft Enhances Safety Features
(Reuters) – Lyft (NASDAQ:LYFT) is introducing verification badges for riders to enhance safety on its ride-hailing platform, announced on Tuesday.
In response to Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER), which began implementing similar features two months ago—including driver trip recording on smartphones—Lyft is upgrading its safety measures.
The rider verification program will equip drivers with a new ride-accept screen that provides details such as the passenger's name, rating, phone number, and verification badge.
Additionally, in select markets, drivers will receive safety alerts when their routes pass through areas with traffic enforcement or near school zones.
Lyft is also simplifying its dashcam registration process and will inform riders before they enter a vehicle that recording may occur.
Moreover, a new feature will allow drivers to locate, rate, and add restroom stops. Drivers can report traffic conditions and hazards, which will enable real-time map alerts to improve route efficiency and safety.
