Just Eat Takeaway Sells Grubhub to Wonder for $650 Million
(Reuters) – Europe's biggest meal delivery firm Just Eat Takeaway announced on Wednesday that it has reached a deal to sell its U.S. unit Grubhub to Wonder for $650 million.
The Amsterdam-listed company had been seeking to offload the Chicago-based Grubhub since as early as 2022, following its acquisition in 2020 for $7.3 billion in an all-stock deal.
Wonder is a food delivery startup led by former Walmart executive Marc Lore.
Advanced negotiations between the two companies were first reported by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday.
The transaction is anticipated to be finalized in the first quarter of 2025. Just Eat stated that this deal will not influence its full-year guidance and that it retains no significant liabilities associated with Grubhub.
