Apple Plans Wall-Mounted Smart Display
(Reuters) – Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is reportedly set to launch a wall-mounted display that controls appliances, facilitates video conferencing, and employs artificial intelligence to navigate apps, according to Bloomberg News.
The product, known by the code name J490, may be unveiled as early as March and will highlight Apple's new AI platform, Apple Intelligence.
Apple has yet to respond to a Reuters inquiry for comment.
The premium device might retail for up to $1,000, depending on the components used, though a display-only version will be offered at a lower price.
This potential launch aims to position Apple against competitors like Google's Nest Hub and Amazon's Echo Show and Echo Hub in the smart home sector.
The AI wall tablet resembles a square iPad and measures about the width of two iPhones placed side by side, featuring a 6-inch screen and available in silver and black.
While the product acts as a standalone device, it will necessitate an iPhone for certain functionalities, as per the report.
