Japan Stock Market Update
Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Textile, Shipbuilding, and Steel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.19%.
Best Performers
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were:
– Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:5631): rose 7.68% or 430.00 points to trade at 6,031.00.
– Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (TYO:2802): added 7.35% or 433.00 points to end at 6,324.00.
– Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7012): was up 5.25% or 348.00 points to 6,973.00 in late trade.
Worst Performers
The worst performers of the session were:
– Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976): fell 15.73% or 437.50 points to trade at 2,343.00.
– Kanadevia Corp (TYO:7004): declined 9.65% or 106.00 points to end at 992.00.

Shares in Ajinomoto Co., Inc. rose to all-time highs; rising 7.35% or 433.00 to 6,324.00. Shares in Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. rose to 5-year highs; up 5.25% or 348.00 to 6,973.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 19.19% to 27.52.
Commodity Prices
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.80% or 0.58 to $71.78 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.69% or 0.52 to hit $75.11 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.42% or 11.40 to trade at $2,694.40 a troy ounce.
Currency Exchange Rates
- USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 152.87.
- EUR/JPY fell 0.31% to 164.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 104.43.
