Japan Stock Market Update
Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, driven by gains in the Shipbuilding, Finance & Investment, and Banking sectors.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.16%.
Best Performers
The standout performers on the Nikkei 225 were:
– Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531): Rose 8.71% or 283.00 points to trade at 3,532.00.
– Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803): Added 6.40% or 338.00 points to end at 5,617.00.
– Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9503): Up 4.72% or 117.50 points to 2,607.00.
Worst Performers
The worst performers included:
– Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506): Fell 13.39% or 83.00 points to 537.00.
– Hino Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7205): Declined 13.34% or 62.50 points to 406.10.
– Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519): Down 4.90% or 378.00 points to 7,340.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with 1,844 advances to 1,778 declines, while 231 remained unchanged.
Shares in Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803) reached all-time highs, gaining 6.40% or 338.00 to 5,617.00.
The Nikkei Volatility Index, measuring the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, dropped 19.54% to 25.86.
Commodities Trading
- Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.92% or 0.62 to $67.83 a barrel.
- Brent oil for January rose 0.82% or 0.58 to $71.31 a barrel.
- December Gold Futures rose 0.62% or 17.20 to $2,798.30 a troy ounce.
Currency Exchange
- USD/JPY was down 0.03% to 153.31.
- EUR/JPY rose 0.01% to 165.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures decreased 0.07% to 104.11.
