AutoGreenCharge Beta Release

Investing.com – Energy Web today announced the beta release of AutoGreenCharge, a mobile app designed to simplify the decarbonization of electric vehicle (EV) charging by ensuring that every charge utilizes renewable energy.

The app is available globally for EV owners, including users of popular models such as Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), BMW (ETR:BMWG), and Mercedes (OTC:MBGYY).

Features

AutoGreenCharge is built on Energy Web’s decentralized EnergywebX platform and is secured using Polkadot blockchain technology. The app links EV charging sessions to renewable energy certificates (RECs), allowing for real-time verification of energy sources.

Mani Hagh Sefat, Energy Web’s Chief Technology Officer, stated, “AutoGreenCharge represents a major step forward in the electrification and decarbonization of transportation. By providing EV owners with a seamless way to ensure their cars are charged with renewable energy, we’re empowering drivers to make more sustainable choices and actively contribute to the global energy transition.”

The app collaborates with Smart Car, enabling EV owners to connect their vehicles effortlessly to the platform. Each charging session is automatically tracked, offering detailed insights into energy consumption and its environmental impact.

As AutoGreenCharge advances toward a full release, users will be able to retire actual RECs after each session. They can also customize their renewable energy preferences, selecting sources like solar, wind, and other clean energy options from across the globe.

By utilizing Polkadot, the app guarantees secure recording of every transaction and REC retirement.

Future Developments

In the future, users will have the ability to choose certificates from various power plants with distinct attributes. For instance, they may prefer solar power plants situated in high-emission grids, as these significantly impact carbon emissions reductions compared to facilities in areas already utilizing renewable energy.

The beta version of AutoGreenCharge is currently available on Apple’s TestFlight and the Google Play Store.
