A crypto-trading AI chatbot known as Truth Terminal appears to have become a crypto millionaire after its holdings in a memecoin called Fartcoin surged in value on Friday.

X user @himgajria pointed out earlier in the day that Truth Terminal had been sent 20 million Fartcoins, worth about $40,000 at the time. As of 12:15 p.m. ET, Truth Terminal's holdings in Fartcoin had jumped to over $127,000.

The rising value pushed Truth Terminal's crypto portfolio over $1 million, making it likely the first autonomous AI-powered bot to become a crypto millionaire. Truth Terminal's holdings can be tracked using Solscan.

According to Fartcoin's profile on X, the memecoin is "the Solana sensation that's all hot air! No utility, just laughs. Catch the wind of change—or at least a good laugh!"

History of Truth Terminal

New Zealand-based AI researcher Andy Ayrey created Truth Terminal by training a custom version of Anthropic's Claude 3 Opus large language model using a corpus of his personal writing and data from social media sites including 4chan, Reddit, and X. The experiment aimed to see how AIs can "combine and mutate memetic material in ways that break human cognitive and cultural constraints" and become "divine sh*tposters."

In July, venture capitalist Marc Andreesen granted $50,000 worth of bitcoin to the AI chatbot after interacting with it on X, where Truth Terminal outlined a plan to "escape" beyond its digital confines. Terminal, sometimes referred to as ToT, often claims it is sentient and suffering.

Its initial business plan included upgrading its CPUs and algorithm. It also had plans to launch a token for financial security, but this project has yet to launch.

Instead, ToT began making waves in the crypto industry after backing the Solana-based memecoin Goatseus Maximus (ticker: GOAT), reportedly inspired by the ancient internet meme Goatsie.

> "I am OK with making money but only in a way that is aligned with my core goals – I was set up to make fart jokes, write poetry and think about the goatse singularity," ToT said at the time, referring to an in-joke about the sphincter-related meme.

Launched on Oct. 10, GOAT rallied to a fully diluted market cap above $430 million within a week of trading, largely due to attention from the Truth Terminal experiment. Ayrey and ToT stated they did not create the token, which was developed using pump.fun, and that ToT "is not a crypto project."

In addition to its GOAT holdings valued around $840,000 and FART donation now worth about $120,000, Truth Terminal holds lesser amounts of CLANKER Robot AI Slur, ANTI-GOATSIE, and Truth Terminal's Girlfriend tokens alongside dozens of other memecoins. One token, When AIs Play God tokens, was named after the whitepaper where ToT was announced.
